The Bellevue Hotel was built in 1885-6, and served as Brisbane’s premier hotel well into the 20th century. Once situated on the western corner of George and Alice Streets, the hotel is now recognised as a Queensland heritage icon and an important part of state’s social and architectural history, despite its much opposed demolition in 1979.
